"We are having a network problem at 2nd Flr & 3rd Flr Library since yesterday and today (am). The affected area are Library, helpdesk, LT1, Audi, and 2nd flr. Jeff have done a few test and found out that there is no hardware faulty in our core switch.
From the test we be able to fine one port from Switch 1 port no 20 is broadcasting so many packet. After removing this port from the network, all the network connection is working as normal.
We then try to locate the port no 3-218 where it is actually at CKO Office at 2nd Flr.
We found that there is one hub to connect all the Apple machine.
The actual problem where there is 2 network point from the wall connect to one hub and that causing the high broadcast and then kill the uplink at 2nd flr and 3rd flr Library.
At last we be able to find the source of the problem. Sharmila is already being notified and I already explained to her the problem that we encounter." - ICT
Sharm, for immediate rectification. The hub should be its own LAn without accessing the IMU LAN. That has to be the main principle. It should use separate cables and be independent of IMU network. -KA
never reliased there was any problem with the network. all i know that traffic slows down during lunch hour so i thought it's only normal that activities increase during break.
however the issue above is really not only embarrasing but seriously memalukan.

anyway, no matter how you(we) explain, you(we)'re the one 'nampak bodoh' coz we're the one using the hub. but i would like to CLARIFY that seriously, we have a dedicated network to plug into the imu server only when we need to transfer files mac-pc. as for the smart person with the smart brain that connects 2 network point to the same hub, all i can say is - S.M.A.R.T.
sigh.....no need to work hard lah. no matter how you perform, one stupid mistake is enough to make you look like a fool ( to them) for the rest of your life kan?

huh...sungguh memeningkan...
memang pening, but with few questions
1. who ask to connect the 2 network points to the hub?
2. did all the mac used to logon to the internet? or do any data transfer?
3. for data transfer to pc, why cant just connect it directly to the hub? (in the case if transferring to PC at farah's place, that of course needed to be done)...
4. why do IT always make a big fuss out of this. just inform the appropriate person then it should be settled, should it not?
